News: Bebel Gilberto On Tour

Brazilian vocalist Bebel Gilberto is back in the US and will be kicking off her tour in Washington DC on Nov 23. She'll be playing songs from All In One, her rhythmically focused new album that's mostly sung in Portuguese. Bebel continues to put her own poppy spin on the heart and soul of traditional Brazilian music.

A few tidbits about Bebel:

• Yes, she is the daughter of João Gilberto who performed that super famous version of "The Girl From Ipanema"

• You've heard her breezy, throaty voice on collaborations with David Byrne, Amon Tobin, Thievery Corporation and more.

• There are a slew of guest collaborators on the All In One, including including Carlinhos Brown (Caetano Veloso), Didi Gutman (Brazilian Girls), Mark Ronson, Daniel Jobim (grandson of Antonio Carlos Jobim) and John King (the Dust Brothers.)

• Mark Ronson produced the Stevie Wonder-penned song “The Real Thing,” which was originally recorded by Sergio Mendes. And yup, that's The Dap Kings, (Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse) on the track as well.

New Comer: Bone Gunn

While a professional musician for a decade, in both the Punk band Pillars of the Community and Folk band Grimes & Kane, BONE GUNN has always been an outlet for Bryan’s obsessive perfectionism. All other work aside, BONE GUNN has always been the final goal. BONE GUNN embodies Bryan’s creative fervor and the incredible talent and drive of its members.

The story of BONE GUNN is the story of Bryan Kane, its creative force. Bryan grew up “in the military” as he puts it, moving from town to town, school to school until finally landing in up-state New York for most of his adolescence. His musical youth was shaped by playing traditional Irish music at home and especially at family gatherings. At 16 his mother passed away, a truly defining moment in his life. Bryan went from being a calm drug curious youth, to a substance addled young adult, over night. His father became estranged as his interest shifted to his new girlfriend, leaving Bryan to his own devices. Eventually Bryan was kicked out of his house, at only 17 years old, because of his drug use and outright disregard for authority (Bryan had, by this point, already been arrested once on suspicion of Arsen, and later on suspicion of Murder).

Bryan’s independence, drinking, and supply of LSD, led him to start an underage speakeasy for his friends and acquaintances alike. Live entertainment and hallucinogens for all! Bryan’s music became more and more furious along with his drinking and drug use. A police officer that Bryan had befriended, warned him of the imminent downfall of the underground scene he had birthed and what the consequences could entail if he didn’t act quick.

Bryan decided to take the money he had saved up to engage in some aimless travel with his guitar riding shotgun. As he traveled, the music that we hear in BONE GUNN today began to take form. The further Bryan got from home, and ironically, the further he got from drugs, the more eclectic the music became, forming a unique sound best described as “experimental folk.” Bryan however chooses to refer to it only as “Pop.” After an incident involving whisky, gasoline, Bryan’s car, a booger, and a cop’s badge, Bryan decided to take a sabbatical from drugs and booze. Soon after, he landed in Boston where he has been recording his songs. The live band, including Brian Penny (guitar) and Charles Kessenich (drums), has been together for nearly three years, with various other interim members filling the second guitar and bass positions. They have sold several thousand copies of their EP “From The Chain To The Sky.” Their first major tour brought them to Japan where they distributed their limited edition, self titled, Japan EP. Their latest release is a single for their song “Flies” and boasts five songs on an enhanced CD.

Today's Single: Sugababes - About A Girl

Helo, I am back again after some dutties from my job. Thanks to DJ Sape for the contribution, you did good job.

Anyway right from now, I'm trying to blogging about music again. Let's start from Today's Single from British girl group Sugababes "About A Girl". This their first single with new formation. After kicked Keisha Buchanan from the Sugababes, Jade Ewen replace Keisha Buchanan place and actually this single is their second single from their latest album "Sweet 7". It was written by Makeba Riddick and RedOne, and produced by the latter. The song premiered on September 6, on BBC Radio 1. The song was re-recorded with Jade Ewen's vocals. The second version of the single aired two weeks later, and was released as a digital download on November 8, 2009, and released as a CD single a day later on November 9.

When you hear "About A Girl" you will feel "clubby synths" and clickable chorus because of repeated. "About A Girl" is nice dance-pop with electro-pop style. New Sugababes are talented girls, and in my honest opinion they would be better with their brand new name with new mark.

The Ragamuffins "Batteries Not Included" New Song

Catchy slice of melodic indie pop ‘Batteries Not Included’ is a perfect example of why people are tripping over themselves to praise cheeky electropop kids The Ragamuffins. This long awaited release, produced by Dave Cottrell at Studio 410, has been praised by the likes of BBC’s John Gillmore and countless others.

An indie pop group based in the North West of England, The Ragamuffins (consisting of David Jaggs, Jules Gilchrist and Paul Heck) are renowned for their emphasis on infectious grooves, lush harmonies and catchy melodies. Their frenetic electro pop style takes in elements of Northern Soul, 80's synth pop and the music of "The British Invasion" of the 1960's and is wrapped up in a witty, uplifting lyricism to create something totally unique.

"Exactly what British indie pop needs right now; charm, originality, but most of all, damn fine song writing" - Preston University Press
